Another major foundation created in 2003 was Mozilla. On February 23, 2003 Mozilla was founded describing themselves as "a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving choice and promoting innovation on the Internet". When it kicked off, AOL promised it would donate 2 million dollars over the next 2 years to help get Mozilla on their feet. Mozilla then soon grew to become a major company and also became the founder of Firefox, which is now considered to be the industry standard.
